Quiksilver Cypher JDub Boardshorts: The Quiksilver Cypher JDub Boardshorts have new tech for the new year with a neoprene fly closure utilizing Quiksilver wetsuit technology with a lycra hem to minimize friction, a diamond pattern to reduce skin contact and rashing, and Quiksilver???s unique style.

There is something that I find really attractive about this boardshort. Maybe it is the fact that it is made from environmentally sensitive eco supreme suede which Billabong produces by recycling plastic bottles. Maybe it is the fact that it is a proven Billabong boardshort – so I know it will fit perfectly and last longer than I wish. However – what I think really draws me to Land Shark is this print. I’m typically a solid dark colored boardshort kind of guy – and this print is a collage of black and white photos (sharks and hibiscus flowers) with just a hint of color in the waist and embroidery. Some might think it is bad luck to wear a shark print on your boardshorts – but I think it might actually be good luck. It is bad luck to have a shark fillet in your pocket however. One of my favorite Billabong trunks of the season even though it is a bit under the radar.

Billabong pretty much resets the bar in floral boardshorts with this new print. I’m totally blown away by this print. Just when you think that you have seen everything that anyone can do with florals – the team at Billabong does something that is totally new. I’m amazed. The Zebra Floral is made from Billabong’s world famous supreme suede which is soft and dries quickly. They wouldn’t even think about putting a side seam on this incredible print. It has a functional mesh-lined cargo pocket with uniquely shaped contrast flap. They even spent the time and effort to give the pocket flap a contrast taped edge. It is finished with a 3D embroidered patch logo. One of the best prints I’ve ever seen.

There is something to be said about the person who chooses to say nothing at all. Let your surfing do the talking for you with the Rum Point boardshort from Billabong. This solid color boardshort features a supreme suede fabric that feels like butter against the skin. Of course the features don’t stop there – the fly is made with two strips of well placed velcro that allows for some flexibility and assurance that your junk stays in the trunk. A side cargo pocket is always essential in a great boardshort and Billabong doesn’t leave you without one. They even decided to throw in a wax comb on the key lanyard just in case you need to freshen up your scrub. Solid trunks – all day.

The other day I was walking down the street minding my own business when out of the bushes popped a crusty old critter with one good leg and a peg for the other. I tried to put my head down and walk past him – but he was very persistent in getting my attention. With a crispy weathered voiced he said – in.hey grom!! in. I was shocked – I was no grom – I’ve paid my dues – had my hazings – worked my way up to the big kids table. Then I realized everyone is probably a grom to this tattered old soul. So I asked him what he wanted. To my suprise he had but one humble request. in.I used to be one hot ripper in my day and would want nothing more than to go get one more session in. in. I refrained from laughing but still dismissed his request due to his peg leg potentially putting a drainhole in the middle of my stick. in.I promise – in. he said on the verge of begging – in.I will return everything to you exactly how I found it. in. I thought to myself why not – it could be entertaining. Let’s just say I’ve never seen a peg legged seventy something year old bust a frontside reverse quite like he did. in.Dude you were killing it out there – how the hell did you pull that off? in. All I got in response was – in.Those trunks you let me borrow were the most comfortable thing I have ever worn – maybe that had something to do with it. in. The supreme suede trunks I let him borrow were ironically called the Peg Leg and were in fact very comfortable. I realized though that I had never ripped that hard in those things and to this day have never seen that guy again.

This mighty fine looking pair of boardshorts features the famous Todos Twill fabric from Billabong. It is a fast drying polyester with a super soft feel and a nice fresh look. It also features an exploded plaid print with pop stripe colors – both of which are exclusive to Billabong. The V-Trip – as they call it – is the perfect all day trunk. You will dry fast and have minimal rub – not to mention a side pocket big enough for your wallet or keys or both. Of course – they really shine when they are in the water and in the water they must go. Free them from their warehouse prison that Killer Dana has locked them up in until the day a thoughtful person like yourself comes along to take them home.

As if Primo and Poi wasn’t the best thing ever – now you have primo and Billabong coming together with an insane pair of boardshorts. This co-op came together to represent the best of the best. The in.best kine brew in. is featured all over this supreme suede boardshort. This thing is limited edition so you better act on it now if you want to be a part of one of the best collab’s in the business. Don’t be afraid to surf in these things either – the polyester supreme suede is super soft and the side pocket is money for your goods.

I’m a bit speachless about the new Occy signature series boardshort. We get a lot of boardshort and Billabong has essentially left the block of the Occy trunk unchaged for several years. However – when I opened the boxes – I was blown away by the color combos on this style. The Occ boardshort is actually one of the most technically challenging feats of boardshort engineering in the world of surf trunks. Every other company wishes that they could build this – but none can. Billabong actually has their own dedicated factory that allows them to achieve this level of complexity and perfection. This trunk is made from Billabong’s world-famous supreme suede fabric. It is a combination of colors and patterns with contrasting curved inset panels and a large Billabong applique. There is a thoughtfully placed mesh-lined cargo pocket. I know you are going to want to just put these on straight out of the bag – but please take a second to appreciate the detailed embroideries and careful construction on this classic boardshort style.
